NCUIH

Third Party Billing Project for UIHPs

Given the incredible underfunding experienced by Urban Indian Health Programs, accessing and maximizing revenue through Third-Party Billing (TPB) is crucial for providing comprehensive, quality health care for American Indians and Alaska Natives living in cities across the US. Unfortunately, there are many political, contextual, and cultural barriers and challenges that exist related to third-party billing that negatively impact many Urban Indian Health Programs. There is an urgent need to understand these barriers and challenges, identify solutions, and provide support and assistance to Urban Indian health Programs wanting to implement and/or maximize third-party billing revenue. NCUIH is dedicated to the completion of a Third-Party Billing project that will allow for an assessment of the current issues related to third-party billing for Urban Indian Health Programs, the development of a community of learning to facilitate urban communities learning lessons from one another, and the technical assistance for Urban Indian Programs wanting to increase third-party billing revenue. For more information or to be involved on a planning team for the project, please contact Dr. Jami Bartgis at jbartgis@ncuih.org or by calling (202) 544-0344.
