American Indian Community House of New York

The American Indian Community House (AICH) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization serving the health, social service, and cultural needs of Native Americans residing in New York City. We are now located at 11 Broadway.

AICH was founded in 1969, by Native American volunteers as a community-based organization, mandated to improve the status of Native Americans, and to foster inter-cultural understanding. Since its inception, AICH has grown into a multi-faceted social support agency and cultural center with a staff of 35 that serves the estimated 130,000 Native Americans in the greater New York City area.

Membership

AICH membership is currently composed of Native Americans from over 72 different tribes. Native American migration between urban centers and reservations demonstrates the inter-relatedness of all Native Americans and from this reality emerges the recognition that our issues and concerns are truly shared.

Philosophy

The AICH philosophy is that solutions can be shared as well, AICH provides programs in job training and placement; health services; HIV/AIDS counseling and testing; and counseling programs for alcoholism and substance use. AICH also sponsors programs in cultural enrichment through a performing arts program.
