Available Services:

Physical Examinations

We encourage all patients to come in for annual exams to insure early detection of illness or disease. Types of annual exams may include pap smears, breast exams, rectal exams, prostate exams, and school or work physicals.

Well Child Exams

We offer exams to check the growth and development of your child. This is also the time when parents may discuss with the provider any concerns regarding the development of their child. The provider will discuss health promotion activities and offer guidance about developmental milestones, safety issues, and immunizations.

Pre-Natal Care

We offer the initial prenatal exam and then refer patients to competent facilities for the rest of their prenatal care.

Diabetic Care

Diabetic patients will have appointments on a regularly scheduled basis depending on their medical condition in order to optimize the management of their diabetes and minimize the long-term complications of the disease.

Home Visits

If the provider determines a patient needs home visits, a Community Health staff member will go to the patient's home and provide nursing services. This may include, dressing changes and wound assessment, education or help with a new medication

Laboratory Services

We offer a limited number of in-house laboratory testing services. For most laboratory tests the patient will be sent to Quest Lab. Some types of in house labs tests offered are:
Urine Pregnancy tests
Hemoglobin
Random Blood Sugar
Urinalysis

American Indian Health Service of Chicago provides Primary Healthcare, Mental Health and Community Health Services to the American Indian population of Chicago, Illinois. American Indian Health Service of Chicago is the only Urban Indian Health Program in Illinois and we are dedicated to providing culturally sensitive and quality primary health care services to American Indians and their families residing in the area.

Mission Statement:

The mission statement of the American Indian Health Service of Chicago, Inc. is to promote and elevate the health status of American Indians to the highest level possible by employing qualified culturally sensitive health professionals to provide affordable and accessible healthcare.

Goals:

  • To provide direct health care and supportive services without regard to race, color, sex, political and religious views, but with special emphasis on the American Indian.
  • To provide competent and qualified staff in all areas of service and assure that professional standards are met and exceeded.
  • To secure funding to support the operation of programs and to manage these funds in a fiscally sound and responsible manner.
  • To maintain a comprehensive health network to assist clients in need of assistance beyond the scope of the health center.
